Hi everyone

Long time, eh?

I just wanted to confirm that Feugh Fest is taking a sabbatical this year.

Our Managing Director Mr. Mark Valentine now has two little babies to take care of, and is settling into his new life after having moved abroad. He is taking some time out to take care of his family, and we wish him all the best.

But don't worry, we will be back next year, bigger and better than ever.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to Feugh Fest

The crowd was amazing: you were friendly, laid-back and beautiful.

The whole event went swimmingly, thanks to the professionalism of all the bands. They really gave it their all, and I am very grateful for the effort that was put in.

We had a number of photographters at Feugh Fest this year, and we will upload all their pics when they are collected. If you have some pics you would like to share, please e-mail them to jayne@feughfest.com

Hey everyone

I'm getting mega excited about Feugh Fest now, the portakabins have arrived and the site has been fenced off. We have our wristbands and guest lists, our quirky little stalls, some beer and some brilliant nosh. All we need is our people!!

We realise that some people might fancy coming down on the day dependent on the weather, so we have allocated some tickets that will be available for sale on the day.

Tickets will be available from the Feugh Fest main entrance.

Children come first at Feugh Fest

This one is for all our little festival goers

We have made vast improvements to our provisions for Children this year. Children under 12 had to leave by 6pm last year, but children can now stay for the whole event, which gives you an amazing 6 hours more entertainment for children.

Feugh Fest also has some great entertainment planned:

Walterzs
Dodgems
Jumping Frog Ride
Face Painting
Bouncy Castle
and more.

Safety

The safety of the children is of paramount importance to us at Feugh Fest. Each child will be given a florescent paper wristband, where parents can write down their contact mobile phone number. This is a preventative measure in case parents become separated from their child.

Children's cancer charity Clic Sargeant will be on site. They will help Feugh Fest to locate lost children and their bright pink tent will act as a Meeting Point to reunite families.

Complimentary ear plugs are being offered for children, in case any parents have concerns regarding decibel levels at the festival.

Admission

All children aged 12 and under get into free at Feugh Fest when they are accompanied by an adult aged over 18. All adults aged over 18 will require photographic ID.

Charity

Feugh Fest is also trying to better the lives of local children by fundraising for our nominated charity Cash for Kids. They will be on site selling raffle tickets and little sweetie bags. All the monies raised will go to children facing financial, emotional or physical challenges. Feugh Fest will also donate a percentage of profits to Cash for Kids at the end of the festival.

AINSLIE

Ainslie Henderson, Scottish singer songwriter based in Edinburgh, has been evolving and exploring music for over ten years. In a variety of guises he has fronted bands and toured all over Europe and America,

flirted with pop star fame on bbc's fame academy, had a top five hit, shaken his ass on Top of the Pops. Richard E Grant once asked him for an autograph. He's now promoting his most recent album, 'Growing Flowers by Candlelight', always authentic and never contrived. Watching him step onto stage you never quite know what you're going to get, but you will undoubtedly be entertained.

Trader Spotlight: Retrospect

Furthering our quest for local celebs, we simply had to make a stop at this treasure trove...

RETROSPECT

Retrospect is a great wee shop situated opposite John Lewis on St. Andrews Street in Aberdeen. They are purveyors of the finest vintage clothing and accessories, they also stock some new things too. When you go into their shop it is like a little oasis, which takes you away form the bustle outside and de-stresses you with their chilled beats. With an old record player perched upon a wooden art deco unit and vinyl stacked up from the floor, the shop feels very homely and welcoming. I often pop in for a browse and could easily spend half an hour having a look around their range of fabulous garments.

We are fair chuffed that Retrospect will have a stall at Feugh Fest, providing all the things that you need and maybe some things that you don't. You can rest assured that everything at Retrospect will be fun, colourful, slightly eccentric and unique - a bit like a music festival!
From wellies to woolies, tank tops to trilbys, if you find yourself a bit cold/warm/damp then pop over to Retrospect and they will help you party on.

Trader Spotlight: Earl of Sandwich

We have a number of trading partners at Feugh Fest this year, which includes some local Aberdonian celebrities...

EARL OF SANDWICH

Who can forget the dynamic duo Neil and Kit?
Earl of Sandwich used to be on Market Street, in a tardis-like shop the likes of which you have never seen. But now their business has out-grown their humble beginnings and has graduated into far more salubrious surroundings on The Green.

They serve a plethora of tasty things; from freshly squeezed orange juice (squeezed on the premises) to their amazing pastrami jarlsberg and sun dried tomato pannini. Earl of Sandwich has been a favourite haunt of mine for some time.

Earl of Sandwich also pride themselves in being an advocate of the local arts scene; go into their shop and you will see flyers and posters for practically every event that is happening in Grampian. If you want the insider info on what to do with yourself on a free weekend, ask the staff at Earl of Sandwich what they are going to see that night, and promptly follow suit.

When Feugh Fest were searching for someone to come to the festival and supply some healthy, well-balanced and tasty grub, Earl of Sandwich was our first port of call. I am looking forward to enjoying Feugh Fest with some Earl of Sandwich goodies and enjoying the banter with their friendly staff.

The amazing Scottish singer who went from a checkout boy in Tescos to being a finalist in the BBC's 'Any Dream Will Do' which was hosted by Lord Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, beating over ten thousand hopefuls in his journey to being a star. With a luxurious soulful voice and a fanbase of millions, we are delighted to welcome Keith to Feugh Fest. I'm sure he will amaze young and old with his vocal talents and light up the stage with his laid back charm.

Hi there

Feugh Fest is very proud to present our TV Ad, looks cool, doesn't it? The voiceover guy is the same man that does E4!! The ad has been uploaded to our social networking pages.

We are also doing a little tour of Scotland: not only will we be spreading the word of Feugh Fest in Aberdeen this weekend, but we will also be in Orkney, Banchory, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Kincardineshire.

We are also finalising plans for the Feugh Fest Fringe which coincides with Tartan Day, Saturday 2nd August. We will be hosting live music in The Academy Shopping Centre courtyard showcasing some great local talent to keep people entertained while they do their shopping. I hope to see you there in Aberdeen's favourite sun-drenched drinking spot.

There will be some guests at Feugh Fest in addition to the existing line-up, we will keep you posted with some exciting announcements coming soon.

Hello Feugh Fest-ers

Feugh Fest HQ has been quite busy this week:

Peter was caught out by those naughty boys at Radio Clyde. They phoned him pretending to be an old man auditioning over the phone for a slot supporting Sandi Thom. An upload of the hilarious scam is imminent.

You may have saw us on Belmont Street in Aberdeen, spreading the word about Feugh Fest. We were very impressed by the warm reception we received by Apardion, who run the Belmont Street Farmers Market, and also from the members of the public. We were asked some general questions about the festival, and we have decided to put the them on the blog to help as many people as possible.

Q. What is the deadline for the Young Bands Competition?

A. We have set the deadline at Friday 1st August. Don't worry, there is still plenty of time to submit your application.

Q. Is it true that children get in for free?

A. Yes, children aged 12 and under get in to Feugh Fest for free, as long as they are accompanied by an adult that is over 18 years old. Please note that every patron aged 18 and over need to provide us with photo ID on entry; only a passport or drivers license will be accepted. Children can stay for the whole festival, giving them an additional six hours entertainment compared to last year! There will be a dedicated kids' area, but it will be bigger and better than last year.

Q. Can I take my scooter in the campsite with me?

A. We are expecting a large number of ska fans to come with scooters and to camp overnight. We are working with the head of security to see if it will be possible to let scooter owners push their scooters into the campsite so that they will be able to camp beside their scooters. We will issue an update on this shortly.

Q. Can I come dressed as a pirate (I'm not kidding, someone did actually ask me this)?

A. You can do whatever you like mate, as long as it is ethical and legal.

Ladies and Gents, welcome to the Feugh Fest Blog. This is where we will put the latest updates and information on everything Feugh Fest.

Competition: Calling all young musicians across Scotland!

Young musicians from across Scotland are being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to play in front of an expected 5,000-strong crowd at this year’s Feugh Fest.

The competition is open to artists aged 18 years and under, with the winner claiming the last remaining slot on the festival bill on Saturday, 30^th August, at the King George V Park in Banchory, Aberdeenshire.

All interested bands should send an e-mail to Jayne@feughfest.com introducing themselves and attaching an mp3 of their recordings or an internet link to where they can be accessed.

Feugh Fest Fringe

Feugh Fest are delighted to announce that we are hosting an event in association with The Academy Shopping Centre: The Feugh Fest Fringe.

On Saturday 2^nd August Feugh Fest will be celebrating Tartan Day in everyone’s favourite sun-drenched drinking spot. From 12pm – 4pm Feugh Fest will showcase the very best in local music talent and provide you with a fun-filled relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy your shopping experience.

Winners of Feugh Fest Band Showcase

The winners of the inaugural Feugh Fest band showcase are Ascension and Beatnic Prestige.

Ascension are a progressive rock/metal band consisting of local lads from Banchory. Their band is very much in the vein of Iron Maiden and other great rock bands of their time. Ascension provide a high energy show with duelling guitars and the amazing vocal acrobatics of frontman Richard Carnie. Find out more at www.myspace.com/ascensionbanduk

Beatnic Prestige are a four piece band from Dunfermline who are aleady a firm favourite with crowds at Scotland’s music festivals. Update: Bar and provisions for Children

Feugh Fest are pleased to announce that the Bar area will be open until 2330 on the day of Feugh Fest. This provides the patrons of Feugh Fest with an additional three hours compared to the provisions at last year’s festival.

Children aged 12 and under will be admitted for free at Feugh Fest, but now they are able to stay for the entire duration of the festival. This is a vast improvement compared to last year’s festival, where children had to leave by 6pm. This provides children with an additional six hours entertainment compared to last year!
